Swindon Liberal Democrats would like to thank all the voters of Swindon who supported our candidates on 5th May 2011.
The closest election in Eastcott in 17 years saw local resident and campaigner Nicky Sewell elected for the Lib Dem FOCUS Team with 1213 votes. She

replaced retiring councillor Martin Wiltshire.
Cllr Nicky Sewell said, "I'm so proud my neighbours have trusted me with their vote. I will work hard for over the next year never assume I know best, I will always seek local people's views before acting on their behalf."
The Lib Dem vote share in Eastcott held steady in comparison with the equivalent poll in 2007, but there was an increase in the Labour vote. Cllr Stan Pajak, Leader of the Lib Dem Council Group commented "Clearly many people were thinking about national issues when voting this time. I'm really pleased that more people wanted an honest team that works hard all year round."
Overall the predicted charge by the Labour party locally was limited, with two gains, bring the overall numbers on Swindon Council to Conservative 38, Labour 17, Lib Dem 4.
