Swindon Liberal Democrat E-government Champion Cllr Dave Wood has today launched a 'txt ur cllr' (text your councillor) scheme in Swindon.
The scheme invites Swindon residents to text their Councillors if they ever want to raise an issue but don't feel they need personal contact with the,.
Cllr Dave Wood said:
"Everyone has got a view about how Swindon is run, but very few people actually get in contact with their councillors. Often people have views but might not have time for long conversations with their representatives. TXT UR CLLR is a quick way to make your views known.
"Politics does seem to be lagging behind everyone else, many of whom use text messages as a standard way of communication.
"I hope young people might be more tempted to engage in the process if they have this easy way to contact people who make decisions."
