Red Duster flag is not under threat
Swindon's Lib Dem Euro MP says the alleged threat to the UK's Red Ensign is a Brussels scare story peddled by anti-EU Conservatives.
Liberal Democrat Graham Watson MEP's has quashed Tory scare stories over the abolition of the Royal Navy flag. Mr Watson has written to constituents in the Swindon area to say the Navy's proud heritage will not be lost.
Graham Watson said: "The Commission's proposals aim to make sure that EU member States comply with their International Maritime Organisation obligations.
"The proposal makes it quite clear that member states which do so will not be subject to any new legislation.
"Tory MEP's are so obsessed with the national sovereignty they crave that they ignore the global anarchy it spawns."
