Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and the Council for the Protection of Rural England have all applauded the Liberal Democrats' commitment to environmental issues in their manifesto.
Tony Juniper, Executive Director of Friends of the Earth, said: "The Lib Dems have clearly tried to build environmental policies into their manifesto at every level and have produced the greenest manifesto of the major parties at Westminster."
Dr Sue Stebbing, candidate for South Swindon, has degrees in environmental studies and countryside planning. She said, "Liberal Democrats take environmental issues very seriously and we have a green spine running through all our policies. We will tackle climate change as a matter of urgency, reduce pollution and carbon emissions and invest in renewable energy. Locally, we will continue to fight to protect Coate and other precious countryside areas from development."
All the election literature produced by Swindon's Liberal Democrat candidates has been printed on recycled paper.
