Swindon North candidate Mike Evemy spoke at the rally in Swindon town centre on 9 April.
He said that the people of the world have a collective responsibility for the horror of 11 million children a year dying who could be saved if the developed world took action to prevent their deaths.
"Here today and across Britain and the world, we call on our leaders to 'Make Poverty History'. We call on them to ensure fair trade, cancel debt and increase aid."
He said that the Gleneagles G8 summit in July is a real chance for the leaders of the most powerful countries to change the world and urged everyone in Swindon to join him in supporting the 'Make Poverty History' campaign.
"With a huge groundswell of opinion, our Prime Minister, whoever that is in July, will have to act to lead the world to make poverty history."
